What seems like opportunity is actually a trap.
Britco & Bridco lure students — especially from ITIs and rural backgrounds — with "free training" offers. In truth, they deliver only 1–2 months of classes before pushing students into local shops for On-Job Training (OJT), where they are treated as cheap labor.
Shops pay Britco up to ₹1 lakh per student yearly to get “free workers.” Students are placed without consent, often far from home, and receive as low as ₹2,000/month. No food, no housing — barely survival.
Students are mentally trapped: original certificates are withheld, and they're told they'll owe ₹4 lakh if they leave — despite no real legal agreement or court-approved contract.
No. It is completely illegal under Indian law (UGC/AICTE guidelines) to retain original certificates as a condition of service or training.
Only if you signed a registered stamp-paper agreement with clear clauses. Most students sign blank papers or informal documents — these do not hold legal value.
If you are currently trapped, withheld, or threatened, you can confidentially reach out to the District Legal Services Authority.
